Server Disappeared with update?

I recently attempted to fix my Single-player mode by doing a game cache refresh.  This fixed my SP mode. 
Unfortunately I think it also updated the exe to latest version.  Now in Multi-Player, I cant see my favorites and can see the server in the larger server list. 
Does this server require the 1.7 downgrade and if so what is the "right" way (safe way) to do this ? 

edit - I do have a shortcut which is supposed to run MP in "legacy mode" >>    \iw3mp.exe" +set legacymode 1
but this seem not to work now since verifying integrity of my game files. 

edit #2  - so it turns out that many of the iw3mp executables out there are no good.  I finally found one that changed to the version that now shows all the classic servers such as this one.    Perhaps we could host it and link it here as I am sure others have had this problem. 

Unfortunately when I did the "validate file integrity"  it blew away my settings and my history.  I"m now a lowly private again  LOL 
If anyone knows how to recover my rank I'm all ears.   What is weird is that when I reinstalled the game back in July I still had a high rank from years playing ago.  idk  

If you have purchased your game through steam then an update could put you to the 1.8 version and you would have to downgrade to 1.7. I do have a post on how to fix it, I will add the link here.
